Lionel Messi is officially a Paris Saint-Germain player.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner was filmed arriving at Barcelona Airport earlier on Tuesday afternoon as he travelled to the French capital – where he was greeted by thousands of excited PSG fans – to undergo a medical and complete the formalities behind his high-profile move ahead of an official announcement in the evening.
The 34-year-old signed a two-year deal with PSG with the option of an additional year.
Messi will take the no30 shirt at PSG, having reporterdly rejected Neymar’s kind offer to take over his no10 as the former Barca team-mates reunite.
No30 was the number worn by Messi at Barca when he first broke into the senior set up as a teenager.
“I am excited to begin a new chapter of my career at Paris Saint-Germain,” he said in a statement on the club’s website.
