Black Leopards gets a PSL promotion!

Black Leopards beat Jomo Cosmos 1-0 in the promotion playoffs on Wednesday( 30 May) afternoon to secure a ticket back to top-flight football league. Karabo Tshepe gave the home side the lead in the 25th minute. After 90 minutes, the lone goal proved to be good enough for the Thohoyandou side to walk away with the 3 points.

The playoffs, which started on Wednesday, May 16th, saw Leopards and Cosmos who finished second and third in the National First Division respectively, play alongside Platinum Starts who finished 15th in the Premier Soccer League.

Leopards entertained the crowds at home in their first match and cruised to a 1-0 win over Platinum Stars.

They were then held to a 2 all draw away to Jomo Cosmos, followed by a goalless draw to Stars in the away match. The win at home against Cosmos was enough to seal matters for Lidoda Duvha.

Leopards won and drew two matches that put them on top of the promotion playoffs table with 8 points after 4 rounds. Although, Cosmos and Stars have their last match to play on Saturday, June 2nd, whatever the outcome, it will be too little too late for these two teams.

While Jomo Cosmos struggles to return to elite PSL continues, Platinum stars also joins relegated and former premiership league mates Ajax Capetown in the National First Division.

Meanwhile, With Baroka FC and Black leopards promoted to the PSL, this takes the number of Limpopo teams in the PSL to three by adding Polokwane City to the mix. That can only mean more Limpopo derbies are in store for the upcoming season.
