Show Me You Love Me With A Healthy Valentines Treat!

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, a tradition that has been going on for many years now as a way to show our love and appreciation to our loved ones. Needless to say, 75 % of candy sales on this special day are from ‘chocolate’, those pretty red, pink and white treats we all love in different flavors, sizes and colors. This Sweet Confection, is most certainly a must have during this special time of the year and one that most ladies would not consider Valentine gift to be complete without a box, slab or two.

We all want to give our loved ones, the very best yet at times with so many varieties on the market, it can be very confusing to know which is the best one for you to give and eat especially if you are Health Conscious or wanting to lose some weight and keep it off in 2017. Some people would suggest that you completely stay away from those sweet little temptations wrapped in shiny papers, but completely removing them from at such a special time of the year is not easy for most of us and chocolates do have some good stuff that they give you.

Today, I would like to share with you some simple Health Tips so you can enjoy your Chocolate this Valentine, without worrying about the extra calories or how healthy that slab you have just come from eating is to your body. We all know how important it is to eat the best foods for your health and when you know, what is recommended for you, it becomes so much more easier to do.

The secret  to eating a healthy chocolate treat which is more nutritious and healthier lies not at the front of your chocolate slab, box or packet but right at the back where the ingredients are, whether you are buying online or from your local stores this is the most important part of picking the best chocolate and healthiest chocolate for your loved ones.

Although the Nutritional tab also has a lot to tell you about what is inside, with the busy schedule we have these days, it would take you more time to go through each chocolate’s tab and compare. Ingredients also have a lot of information that may not be on the nutritional tab and to be honest, it’s not all of us who understand the calories stuff, so for the sake of simplicity and user friendliness to everyone, we will stick to the ingredients list.

Here are some things to look out for:

Ingredients list must be clearly visible, so you can read it or else it’s just as bad as eating sugar.
First ingredient of Sugar, is a red light to stop and put it back on the shelf.
Hydrogenated oils and High fructose corn syrup are danger zones that are best avoided, especially when it comes to your belly, weight loss and preventing Diabetes onset.
Ingredients that you are not familiar with, or that you cannot pronounce are most certainly not derived from natural foods.
Lists that have more than 10 ingredients are more packed with Artificial stuff, that we all know is one of the leading causes of Cancers.
Darker the better especially for those wanting to feel happier, Lower blood pressure, Reduce intake of junk food or just enjoy something chocolatey without many calories. Lindt being a good choice!!
White Chocolate brands that have cocoa butter as main ingredient are a good quality.
As you go shopping this Valentine, encourage your children to look out for the different brands and how to pick the best, so that even when they are alone, they know how to pick a healthy sweet treat.
Let’s make this Valentine a Healthy one for our loved ones, by giving them real treats  that are sweet and nutritious, instead of junk wrapped in shiny papers!!
